Annual Fred Berger 6K

6K is the average distance women and children walk to water in Sub-Saharan Africa. In honor of this we host an annual fundraiser for the Tufts and greater Somerville and Medford community to run or walk 6 kilometers. We’ve had a lot of community engagement and success over the years! This year it is on April 13th starting at 11:00 am.

About Fred Berger

Fred Berger played a pivotal role in founding Tufts EWB and has remained an integral part of its fabric ever since. With a twinkle in his eye, a wry smile, and his signature bowtie, he challenged Tufts EWB and its members to reflect on what it truly means to be global citizens in a world with so much need. A steadfast mentor and supporter, he inspired thoughtful, sustainable solutions that extended far beyond infrastructure, leaving a lasting impact on the communities we serve.  Fred was equally dedicated to the education and growth of the students themselves, always encouraging them to think critically and act with purpose.  His generosity and unwavering support continue to sustain Tufts EWB, shaping its future as much as its past. For all he has given us, we are deeply grateful.  In his honor, we proudly dedicate our annual 6K to Fred’s memory.

A big thank you to everyone for running and donating this past spring!
