USING TECHNOLOGY IN YOUR TEACHING
There are many tools available to enhance your teaching, both in and out of the classroom.
See Tufts Educational Technology Services for details on available tools, including Canvas:
- Canvas (replacement for Trunk) – This education technology tool allows you to post course syllabi, materials, and assignments. It has the capacity for videos, virtual chat sessions, and securely submitting and grading assignments.
Please take the time to read the Canvas User Guide and Frequently Asked Questions in advance of the semester. If you have questions not addressed in the User Guide or FAQ, please contact canvas@tufts.edu
In addition, Tufts has a set of web applications that facilitate the creation of blogs or wikis within the Tufts system, as well as a number of classroom technology options.
- Digital Design Studio – a facility in the Tisch Library Media Center where students can access software and support for audio and video projects and other digital media.
- The Blended or Hybrid Course – a course in which some of the time that would be spent in the traditional classroom is replaced with online instruction, which may happen at specific times, with all students online at once, and/or asynchronously (e.g., via small-group online collaboration when it’s convenient for students).
- The Flipped Classroom – information is gathered outside of class. Face-to-face classroom time is dedicated to learning activities in which students are actively involved, such as project work or small-group discussions. Think creatively about how technology can be used in this format – see the Teaching Techniques for ideas.
For questions about available technology and support in the classrooms, see the Classroom Technology tab.
