Former Director General, Financial Inclusion, Da Afghanistan Bank

Mir Ahmad Shekib is the former Director General for Financial Inclusion at the Central Bank of Afghanistan. He served in various capacities at the central bank for 13 years. During his tenure, he led the central bank’s initiatives and efforts to develop Afghanistan’s first National Financial Inclusion Strategy in collaboration with the World Bank Group as well as with various public, private and non-government stakeholders. He is also a trailblazer in conducting growth diagnostic studies for Afghanistan. Mir holds a master’s degree in policy economics from Williams College in the United States, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Kabul University.
