Ms. Ritah Karungi Butime is a Senior Banking Officer, Head of the Financial Innovations Unit at Bank of Uganda. Her current roles include promotion of innovations in the payments ecosystem through  the operations of the Regulatory SandBox, collection and analysis of financial inclusion indicators, implementation of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy for Uganda.  Prior to the Bank she worked as an Executive Revenue Recognition at Airtel Uganda (Formerly Warid Telecom) & Smsmedia Ltd that was a Value Added Service Provider. (Fintech)

  Ritah is  an alternate member of the Data Working Group for the Alliance for Financial Inclusion. She strongly believes that creating a digital environment will go a long way in increasing the number of people using financial services and this will greatly improve developing economies in Africa.

She holds a  bachelor’s degree in Business Administration-Finance major from Makerere University Kampala, Masters of Public Policy from the National Graduate Institute of Policy Studies (GRIPS), Tokyo Japan and a Masters of  Financial Management from the Uganda Management Institute, Kampala Uganda. Ritah is also a Certified Digital Finance Practitioner from the Digital Frontiers Institute and Tufts University.
