Mr. Satria holds a BSc in Accounting from Andalas University, Indonesia and an MBA in Global banking and Finance from Birmingham University, UK. He has worked in central bank of Republic Indonesia since 1997 where he had his initial job as a bank examiner. Asean crisis 1998 was his first valuable lesson as microprudentialist. Crisis taught him the need to strengthen banking sector environment, one of them is increasing the capability of bank supervisor that took him to the transformation program in 2002 where in a year he crafted certification programs and applied them in banking sector. Alongside with the need to monitor the stability of financial system, together with member of Banking Workstream in BI’s transformation program, they set up new unit called Financial System Stability Bureau in 2003. This introduced him to the Macroprudential wing, a new world for central banking that trend after crisis 2008. In this Macroprudential era, stress test and crisis management protocol was one of his projects.
In 2012, Mr. Satria’s deputy governor assigned him to conduct preliminary research about branchless banking and its possibility to be applied in Indonesia. This assignment introduced him to the financial inclusion discipline, a possible way to provide formal financial service to the last mile. As macroprudentialist, he believes financial stability and financial inclusion complement each other. After making guideline of branchless banking, he led a pilot project in 2013 involved 5 banks and 2 Telcos. The aim is to see the buying need form unbanked people and problems arose. The result was input for the regulation. In July 2014, they issued Digital Financial Service Through Individual Agent regulation, a new name for branchless banking reflects the future for the bottom of the pyramid and SME. Now, as deputy director in Financial Access Development Group, he has a passion to move forward to create environment that can increase financial inclusion, leverage the digital financial service to other program in order to increase the quality of life people in the grass root.
