Mrs. Anjeza Beja (Harizaj) completed her bachelor’s degree in finance in 2006, at University of Tirana, Faculty of Economy. In 2009, she completed her master’s degree in economics and European studies, University of Tirana, Faculty of Economy and her bachelor’s degree in law in the University of Tirana, Faculty of Law. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from University of Tirana, Faculty of Economy.
For the past eleven years, she has been working at Bank of Albania, starting as a specialist of policy and oversight of payment systems sector at the Accounting and Payments Department in 2006, and later as onsite supervisor at the Supervision Department in 2008. In 2010, she was promoted to head of the Credit Registry Office in the Supervision Department and one year later to head of the Noncredit Risk Sector at the same department. Since November 2013, she has served as director of Payment Systems, Accounting and Finance Department in Bank of Albania. Her main accomplishments in the field of payments are working on the introduction of IBAN for Albania; drawing up the regulation on electronic payment instruments in Albania; and drafting the Law on Payment Services in Albania, transposition of the Electronic Money Institutions Directive in the secondary legislation of Bank of Albania. She is the deputy chair of the National Payment Systems Committee in Albania. Mrs. Beja has been involved in several projects in the field of financial inclusion such as PAFI assessment for Albania and drafting a National Retail Payments Strategy in Albania.
