Lucy Charles-Shaidi is an expert in Payment Systems at the Bank of Tanzania and has more than 17 years of experience in Payment Clearing and Settlement systems. As a Manager for the National Payment Systems’ Directorate at the Bank of Tanzania, Ms. Charles-Shaidi plays a key role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of National Payment Systems, including its modernization to meet the industry needs and accelerate adoption of electronic payments within the country. Currently Ms. Charles-Shaidi is managing Payments System’s operations department, and among others, she is overseeing teams that are developing a Financial Services Registry and the Tanzania Instant Payment System which are among the priority initiatives under the National Financial Inclusion Framework (NFIF) 2018-2020 for the country to achieve the set financial inclusion targets.
