Mrs. Mehrechane Nayel is a gender and financial inclusion Policy Advisor and possesses over twenty years of experience in managing socio-economic projects in a multi-cultural setting with a focus on financial inclusion and private sector development.  Mrs. Nayel is in charge of the financial inclusion data measurement workstream within the Central Bank of Egypt with the view of setting in motion a systematic process to build a nationally owned sex-disaggregated database for measuring the levels, trends and challenges of financial inclusion in the country.  In her former capacity as a Senior Policy Manager at a regional financial inclusion program implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), she was responsible for the advisory services provided to the Financial Regulatory Authority and the Central Bank of Egypt in relation to the provision of better access to finance through the promotion and development of sound financial inclusion, microfinance and microinsurance framework conditions in Egypt.  She successfully initiated and established micro-insurance activities in Egypt within a multi-stakeholder setting.  She also contributed to a regional initiative on financial literacy and supported the development process of the National Financial Literacy Strategy in Egypt.  Prior to this, she worked as a Senior Economic and Trade Advisor at the Netherlands Embassy in Egypt for fourteen years where she helped identify and promote business and investment opportunities for the Netherlands.  She has a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Cairo University and is a “Certified Expert in Microfinance” from the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.
