Lilliana works as a Public Banks Supervisor in the General Superintendence of Financial Entities (SUGEF) – Costa Rica, where she is mainly responsible for developing risk-based supervision in state-owned commercial Banks, analyzing credit, liquidity, operational and market risks of their significant business lines, and making risk management, corporate governance and minimum capital requirements assessments. She also develops credit portfolios and financial information analyses. Lilliana has 14 years of experience supervising financial institutions. Since January 2018 she has been a member of the committee in charge of financial inclusion topics in the Superintendence, and since February 2018 she has been a member of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion´s SME Finance Working Group. In an initiative to promote financial inclusion by the Superintendence, she is in charge of developing regulations governing microcredit for regulated financial institutions in Costa Rica. Lilliana holds a master’s degree in economics with a concentration in banking and risk management from the University of Costa Rica.
