Nompumelelo Prudence Radebe

Nompumelelo holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Sydney, Australia. Her undergraduate qualifications are in the areas of public finance and accounting. Professionally, her career in the public service spans 12 years, where she began as an intern in the National Treasury in February 2006. She currently serves in the position of Director in the Public Finance Division of the National Treasury and leads the Police Directorate. The Directorate provides program, project, budget and policy support to departments in the police sector and to top management in Treasury. In her career, she has been involved in a number of public financial management reforms relating to public finance management, expenditure management, performance management, municipal finance management, grant management and municipal capacity building. Her personal honors include being selected as 1 of 10 awardees of the Australian Development Scholarship in 2008 to pursue her master’s degree in Australia, and also being selected as the first ever Australia Awards Ambassador for South Africa. She has a passion for community development and youth empowerment and is the incumbent Chairperson of ASAAA, a professional association for Australia Awards alumni in South Africa with a focus on the educational empowerment of young people.
