Christopher Castro Solares
Deputy General Director for Access to Finance, National Banking & Securities Commission (CNBV), Mexico
Graduated with a bachelor’s degrees in computer science and communication sciences from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), respectively; he has a master’s in administration and public policy from the IEXE School of Public Policy. He has completed courses and diplomas in the design and evaluation of public policies, data management and communication, financial inclusion, and social and gender inequality. He has more than 16 years of experience in public administration in the areas of social development, agricultural credit and financial inclusion. Currently, he works as deputy general director of the financial inclusion area in the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV), in which he is in charge of the generation and analysis of data and research on financial inclusion and education, as well as the National Survey of Financial Inclusion. Between 2019 and 2020, under his coordination and co-authorship, the annual Financial Inclusion Panoramas 2019 and 2020 were published, as well as the studies on Financial Literacy in Mexico, the Financial Needs of the Mexican Population, Impacts of Financial Inclusion, Savings in Mexico and Credit in Mexico; and eight Newsletters about financial inclusion innovations or research around the world.
He is part of the team that designed and will follow up on the National Financial Inclusion Policy, presented in March 2020, and is also the CNBV representative in the Data working group in the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI).
