Mir Ahmad Shekib
Former Director General, Financial Inclusion, Da Afghanistan Bank
Mir Ahmad Shekib was the former Director General for Financial Inclusion at the Central Bank of Afghanistan (Da Afghanistan Bank). Mir served at the Central Bank of Afghanistan from 2008 until late 2020. He has 12 years of experience in central banking and financial sector development. He has led the efforts of the Central Bank of Afghanistan in developing the first National Financial Inclusion Strategy for Afghanistan in close collaboration with the World Bank Group and many public, private and non-government stakeholders. Mir holds a master’s degree in policy economics from Williams College in the United States, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Kabul University. He is also the pioneer of growth diagnostic studies for Afghanistan.
