Jorge Moncayo

Intendant, Strengthening and Resolution Mechanisms, Superintendence of Popular and Solidarity Economy (SEPS), Ecuador

Jorge Moncayo is a specialist in financial inclusion and digital financial services. Expert in microfinance by the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, with certification in Digital Money from Tufts University, certified in Law and Regulation in Inclusive Finance given by the University of Luxembourg. He worked on the first case of electronic money managed and controlled by the central government since the end of 2014, when he assumed the position of National Director of Financial Inclusion of the Central Bank of Ecuador. He has extensive knowledge in risk management because he has worked in various local financial institutions. Also, Jorge has been an exhibitor in national and international conferences on mobile money and financial inclusion and has taught courses as a graduate and undergraduate professor, on Monetary Policy, Finance and Banking at several universities in the country. Additionally, Jorge has a master’s degree in Financial Management and in Business Administration from the International University of La Rioja and the Carlos III University of Madrid in Spain. He currently holds the position of Intendant for Strengthening and Resolution Mechanism in the Superintendence of Popular and Solidarity Economy and his mission is to control and coordinate the implementation of resolution mechanisms and promote stability, integration, and financial inclusion to strengthen the sectors of the popular and solidarity-based economy.
