Alex Patrick Ochan
Assistant Director, National Payment Systems, Bank of Uganda
Alex Ochan is an Assistant Director in charge of Financial Inclusion Division at Bank of Uganda. His current roles include coordinating the implementation of National Financial Inclusion Strategy for Uganda, implementation of the Strategy for Financial Literacy in Uganda and promotion of financial Innovations.
He has been a member of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion, Financial Inclusion Data Working Group since its inception in 2010 and he is the current Co-Chair of FIDWG. He believes in evidence-based policy making. Alex is on the IMF roster of experts on Monetary and Financial Statistics. Alex holds a bachelor’s degree in Quantitative Economics from Makerere University-Kampala; an MA in Public Policy from Graduate Institute for Public Policy, Tokyo and an affiliate of Chartered Certified Accountants-UK.
