Hawwau Gambo
Assistant Director and Head of Media Relations, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC)
After working as a broadcast journalist for 13 years, Hawwau Gambo joined the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) in 2011 where she currently serves as Assistant Director and Head of Media Relations Section of the Communication and Public Affairs Department of the Corporation. Hawwau Gambo has also been representing the NDIC on the National Financial Inclusion Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria since 2012 as a member of the Financial Inclusion Products Working Group. She has served as the Chairperson of the Products Working Group for two consecutive terms between 2015 and 2019. The working group has worked to address the implementation issues on financial products and services; scaling up adoption of savings, electronic payments, credit, insurance, pension and investment schemes. Hawwau Gambo was also the Chairperson Planning Committee of the International Financial Inclusion Conference (24th to 25th of November 2022) under the Leadership of the Deputy Governor Financial Systems Stability of the Central Bank of Nigeria. The conference brought together 5,000 participants from at 78 countries around the world and featured the launch of key policy documents such as the Revised National Financial Inclusion Strategy and the Strategy for Leveraging Agent Networks for Women’s Financial Inclusion.
