Director Sandbox Unit, Financial Regulatory Commission of Mongolia

Ms. Batchimeg Batbold is Director of the Sandbox Unit of the Financial Regulatory Commission of Mongolia (FRC) and has five years of experience in research areas related to the financial market and macroeconomy. During these years, she has played a significant role in building the demand and supply side database for measuring financial inclusion of Mongolia and contributed to conducting national wide survey “Gender Gap in Financial Inclusion” as well as developing Mongolian first “National Financial Inclusion Strategy”.

Moreover, she was one of the initiators and active participants to the project of adapting “Sandbox Regulation” in Mongolian financial market which led her career to her current position.  Currently, her team is in charge of receiving the applications from fintech companies, analyzing and conducting research on their proposed innovative products, and selecting the fintech companies and innovative products which are capable of being tested in a sandbox environment. As well as, supervising the sandbox participants through the whole process of experiment, consulting with them about the market regulation, and working with other policymakers to create the regulatory environment are main duties of the team.  Beside her experiences at the FRC, she was also a member of the Financial Inclusion Data working group for the Alliance for Financial Inclusion from 2018 to 2020 as well as a secretariat representing the FRC for the Financial Stability of Council of Mongolia. She holds B.A in Economics from the National University of Mongolia and MPP in Public Economics from the Hitotsubashi University of Japan.
