Ms. Sofia is a dedicated policymaker at the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), specializing in financial inclusion and insurance sector development. With over three years of experience in insurance sector, she has played a pivotal role in crafting regulatory frameworks and initiatives aimed at enhancing insurance penetration and social security in Pakistan.

She was instrumental in developing Pakistan’s first five-year strategic plan – Journey to an Insured Pakistan for the insurance sector and has actively led projects focused on digital insurance infrastructure, mandatory insurance enforcement, and gender-disaggregated data analysis for the insurance industry. She has authored multiple reports while her latest report on digitalization of insurance sector has laid basis for development of comprehensive digital insurance infrastructure for leveraging technology to improve governance and accessibility in the sector.

As a graduate of the “TechEquity: Women in Inclusive Tech Regulation” program by Women’s World Banking, Sofia is a strong advocate for using technology to foster inclusivity and financial independence, particularly for underserved and vulnerable segments of society. Additionally, she has written and presented policy papers, including one that initiated the formation of a data science department at SECP.

With an MBA in Finance and diverse experience in entrepreneurship, marketing, and regulatory policy, Sofia continues to drive transformative changes in Pakistan’s financial landscape, championing innovation, inclusivity, and empowerment.
