The Philadelphia Museum of Art is seeking a Member Record Services Coordinator. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Member Record Services department, providing exceptional quality control and processing output to support the department. The coordinator will prepare and distribute various sales, attendance, revenue, and membership renewal reports and update tracking systems as scheduled. This position will also generate lists for membership renewals, upgrades, e-mails, direct mail and list exchanges. The coordinator will be expected to develop and implement new procedures as needed to maintain optimal departmental performance and assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

Qualified candidates will be proficient in Microsoft Windows and will have hands-on working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Access.  This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in database management and reporting, preferably using Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising systems. This position requires excellent organizational, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills. Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet manner is a must.

SFO Museum seeks an experienced curator to be part of a team responsible for developing, selecting objects, researching, writing, and producing aviation exhibitions.  This individual will also research and write about objects in the permanent aviation collection for cataloging; identify and research objects for acquisition and collection development in all media including the development, preservation, and utilization of aviation film and media collection; create related cross-platform audiovisual content and exhibition; and perform other curatorial duties.

Ideal candidatewill meet the job requirements and have knowledge and interest in commercial aviation history; knowledge in museum collection management and exhibition production processes; knowledge and experience with film media preservation and film production including storyboarding, directing, editing, interviewing; knowledge and experience in educational programming; experience with website design and social media platforms; strong writing and communication skills and ability to multitask and problem solve.

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens seeks a creative and energetic professional to serve as its Assistant Curator at this pivotal moment in the estate’s history. Vizcaya is a National Historic Landmark in Miami, FL, that is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. The estate’s Centennial is approaching and Vizcaya’s 5-Year Strategic Plan guides ongoing efforts to complete capital improvements and enhance the institution’s role as a vital community asset. Vizcaya attracts nearly 200,000 visitors annually (including program participants and clients at evening events) and the coming years will see increasing emphasis on the rehabilitation and reinterpretation of the Vizcaya Village to introduce new urban agriculture and open space initiatives there.

The Assistant Curator will support the Contemporary Arts Program (CAP), including all aspects of content development, research, artist relationships, exhibition planning and logistics, installation and maintenance, design and editing of interpretive materials, program development and budget tracking. Additionally, and beyond CAP, s/he will support exhibition initiatives, including the development of case displays and temporary exhibitions in the decorated rooms, and virtual initiatives that endeavor to disseminate information on the collection. This position is also responsible for general collections and archival research in support of the Historic Furnishings Report. Other tasks will include some logistical and administrative support of the division, and other tasks as needed.

The Assistant Curator works in a team consisting of an Archivist, a Collections Care Specialist, a Collections Management Assistant (vacant), a Conservator, and a Curator. The team is led by the Deputy Director for Collections and Curatorial Affairs. The position reports to the Curator.

The Smithsonian Office of Advancement seeks experienced and creative candidates to fill the position of Program Specialist, Member and Donor Programs. This position is in the Friends of the Smithsonian works with the Director to develop strategy and manages multiple business partners on program implementation. The integrated campaign strategy includes acquisition, renewals, appeals, benefit fulfillment, cultivation mailings and member events. Duties include:

  • Direct Response Campaign Coordination: Incumbent is the primary liaison to vendors providing services in support of the entire direct response campaign life-cycle, from planning and strategy formulation, to budgeting, creative development, production, distribution and results analysis. The incumbent works closely with department managers, internal staff and vendors to ensure the success of each campaign.
  • Coordination of Benefit and Cultivation Mailings: Incumbent coordinates the entire life cycle of benefit fulfillment and cultivation mailings. This life-cycle includes concept development and planning, budgeting, vendor selection and procurement, creative development, distribution and results analysis.
  • Event planning and execution: Incumbent works with departmental managers to design an events plan for each fiscal year. Incumbent serves as the primary liaison to the Office of Special Events and Protocol and works with staff in the units to schedule events and secure necessary resources. S/he manages all details required for the successful implementation of each event, including budget development; invitation production; RSVPs; menu; facility preparation; program, including speakers and timing; guest registration; and event staffing.

Additionally, the incumbent assists in the development and implementation of processes, projects, reports, and member services activities, as needed. S/he facilitates communication with other membership programs within the Institution. The incumbent assists with member engagement and supports all events hosted by the membership program. The incumbent adheres to the Smithsonian Institution Ethics Standards and policies.


Requirements

Candidates must have a minimum of three years relevant experience, including member services vendor and staff management, financial operations and/or direct response analytics. Other required skills: the ability to successfully manage multiple deadlines, to work both independently and as part of a team, and exceptional attention to detail.

The Office of Advancement oversees and guides the fundraising efforts of the entire Smithsonian and is home to the central development organization for the Institution. In addition to raising significant support for a variety of Smithsonian initiatives, the Office of Advancement provides support services to development offices across the Institution. The office engages with staff throughout the Smithsonian in accomplishing their goals.
