The Trustees of Reservations is looking for a Curatorial Fellow to join the organization’s curatorial team in the study and care of the more than 30,000 objects. Founded in 1891, The Trustees mission is to preserve properties of exceptional scenic, historic, and ecological value across Massachusetts. Working with colleagues in the curatorial department, the Fellow will inventory the objects at and play a role in the re-visioning and reorganization of collection storage at our Archive and Research Center (ARC) in Sharon, MA, just south of Boston. This Fellow will also occasionally assist with on-site work at our historic houses across the state on collection care, object research, and cross-department collaborations. In addition, the Fellow will also conduct a curatorial research project to add to our understanding of the collection. The position is full-time for nine-months, with an optimal start-date of June or July 2016 and is open to recently-graduated museum professionals who have received a graduate degree in museum studies, material culture, art history, public history, history, or related fields. The stipend for the position is $19,000, and also includes benefits. In addition, the Fellow will receive a modest travel stipend to attend conferences to enrich his/her professional development. The Tasha Tudor Museum is seeking volunteers to engage and inspire guests from around the world, while promoting and supporting TTM and its mission. Docents also act as clerks in our gift shops/admission desk and prepare and serve pots of Tasha Tudor’s Welsh Breakfast tea while guests watch the Tasha Tudor documentaries. Interest and passion for Tasha Tudor’s 1830’s lifestyle, art, old-fashioned skills such as knitting, sewing, canning, gardening, weaving etc. are all helpful.
