Position Summary:

The EcoTarium, A Museum of Science & Nature, seeks a Sales and Guest Services Manager to oversee all aspects of the daily operation of the Department. Responsibilities includesupervising and coordinating the work of the reservations office and floor staff to ensure that the EcoTarium operates efficiently and provides for an exceptional guest experience. The Manager makes sales, takes reservations, produces and monitors their department budget, manages the guest services data bases, oversees the birthday party program and ensures guest safety. The Manager is the point of contact for issues that affect day-to-day operation of the museum and grounds and takes part in planning and development of projects and policies. Successful candidates must be highly organized, flexible, possess solid computer skills, have extensive customer service experience and possess an entrepreneurial spirit.

<pclass=”msonormal” style=”box-sizing: border-box;”>Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Sales and Guest Services Department, including the Ticket and Information Desk, gatehouse, museum shop, Reservations Office and Birthday Party program
  • Hire and provide training, cross-training, mentoring, leadership, supervision and evaluation of the Sales and Guest Services staff with team leaders
  • Produce staff work schedule and coordinate staffing for day-to-day operations, special events, facility use and other special needs
  • Develop and implement written staff protocols, guidelines and expectations
  • Develop an on-going training program and staff meeting schedule to ensure a basic level of shared knowledge and to build expertise
  • Run morning meetings with daily updates
  • Offer customer service training to staff across departments and to volunteers
  • Work across departments to identify ways to increase earned income
  • Operate VISTA cash and reservation systems and POS, including maintaining VISTA for all scheduled events and room use; booking and tracking individual and group reservations for admissions and programs; and running updates and reports with reservations team
  • Produce daily maps and stanchion signs
  • Reserve and track granted groups and monitor all requirements allowed under the grant
  • Produce and monitor Sales and Guest Services budget
  • Work collaboratively with management on policies and procedures and with other departments on event planning, volunteer needs, sales reporting, pricing and birthday party content
  • Monitor customer service, exhibit/facility upkeep, lost guest, accident/incident intervention and reporting and other direct impacts on the guest experience

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Prepare for and actively participate in staff trainings and meetings
  • Serve on ad-hoc committees
  • Other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in management and customer service
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Reservations experience
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a positive, productive work environment, and a dedication to creating and maintaining a strong customer service culture
  • Must work well with diverse audiences and exercise sound judgment, tact and diplomacy
  • Excellent written, organizational and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple demands and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly organized, creative problem-solver with excellent follow-through
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database programs
  • Prior cash handling and cash draw management experience expected
  • Able to navigate the building and grounds, and/or stand for long periods of time under any weather conditions and work in a highly sensory and stimulating work environment due to constant interaction with guests
  • Certified in CPR/First Aid or be willing to take a CPR/First Aid course provided by the EcoTarium
  • Must possess a high level of initiative and have an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Previous work in a museum, zoo, or in a formal and/or informal education setting a plus
  • Fluency in Spanish desired
  • Must pass a CORI background check in accordance with EcoTarium guidelines

Provincetown 400 honors the native peoples already living here and embraces the writing and signing of the Mayflower Compact, the beginning of democracy in America.
Executive Director Job Description and Qualifications The Executive Director reports to the Executive Committee and has overall strategic, fundraising, operational and marketing responsibility for all Provincetown 400 endeavors. The Executive Director will ensure that Provincetown 400 endeavors adhere to the mission statement, and are inclusive and historically accurate. The strategy developed should strive to incorporate all towns on Cape Cod and be designed to promote Provincetown through and beyond 2020.
Ambassador/Liaison The Executive Director is the face of Provincetown 400 and liaisons with the media, businesses and business organizations, committee chairs, Plymouth 400, Massachusetts 400, appointed and elected officials, vendors, consultants, other non-profits, residents and visitors. With the support of the Executive Committee and others, the Executive Director will become acquainted with and knowledgeable about the aforementioned entities.
Finances Working with the Executive Committee, the Executive Director will create a line item budget itemizing sources of revenue and expenditures. The Executive Director will develop – and be responsible for the successful implementation of – a fundraising strategy incorporating corporate and private donations, government grants and contracts, fees for goods and services, event admissions, etc.
Management The Executive Director will work with stakeholders, and with respect to other organizations, to develop and lead the implementation of a calendar of events for fundraising and commemorating, facilitating the arrival of the Mayflower in Provincetown and other endeavors to “commemorate the first landing of the Pilgrims in 1620 on the shores of what is now Provincetown MA, honor the native peoples already living here, and embrace the writing and signing of the Mayflower Compact, the beginning of democracy in America.” The Executive Director will remove actual and potential roadblocks and redundancies to maximize the efficiency of the organization.
Leadership The Executive Director will cultivate and motivate volunteers and stakeholders in pursuing Provincetown 400 goals and objectives. The Executive Director will recommend hiring needs to the Executive Committee and will supervise and monitor paid employees and consultants. The Executive Director will work independently and with professional consultants, tourism professionals and volunteers to raise the required funds and thoroughly market Provincetown 400 endeavors, and with legal consultants as needed.
Marketing The Executive Director will develop and implement a marketing plan, with goals and objectives as outlined by the Executive Committee. The marketing plan/endeavors will address the local and regional constituency as well as the national and international tourism market. The Executive Director is responsible for monitoring, evaluating and reporting on all Provincetown 400 endeavors.

Our aggregate collection contains more than 40,000 objects, 7,000 books, 1,500 linear feet of archives, 95 cultural landscapes, and 8 national historic landmarks.

About The Trustees & Fruitlands Museum Collections:

The Trustees of Reservations’ curatorial resources include archives, buildings, landscapes, ruins and artifacts covering hundreds of years of human history. In the historic houses, at the Archives & Research Center, and in the land itself, The Trustees preserves the landscapes and material culture of Massachusetts people. With its important collection of Hudson River landscape paintings and early American portraiture, along with a diverse compilation of Shaker materials, Transcendentalist personal artifacts, and Native American materials, the overall Fruitlands Museum collection represents an intact collection amassed by Clara Endicott Sears (1863-1960) in the early 20th century. The site sits atop a remarkable prospect across vast acres of conservation land, providing important opportunities to share and celebrate connections between the fine arts collection, historical collections, and the landscape. We are seeking a Curator with a breath of experience including extensive Fine Arts and Decorative Arts experience to work with this dynamic collection.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Curator to join the organization’s curatorial team in the study and care of the collections at the Fruitlands Museum, our 116th property, which includes renowned folk and landscape paintings collections. This Curator will provide collections care, access and maintenance while providing on-site leadership and implementation for its creative, intellectual and programmatic direction. The Curator will assist with fund-raising activities and grant writing to support the collection and the Museum’s growth and promotion. Changing exhibits have played an important role in highlighting permanent collections, serving as outreach to contemporary and/or local artists and lending institutions, and, in the future, will additionally highlight other aspects of The Trustees collection. This Curator will work with the department’s team and the General Manager for Fruitlands Museum to create a dynamic exhibition program.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages the focus, growth and management of the permanent collection in collaboration with the Senior Curator.
  • Supports the planning, implementation and evaluation of care, security, access and management policies for the Museum’s collections, and historic building interiors.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Curator, the General Manager, the Engagement Manager and other colleagues in the development of a balanced and dynamic exhibition program in the gallery and on the grounds.
  • Assists with the cultivation of collectors, donors and artists.
  • Manages the presentation and new interpretations of the collection, in collaboration with engagement and education staff, Senior Curator and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborates in the preparation of interpretive materials for new exhibitions, brochure texts and catalogues, as well as content for marketing, development, grant writing and fundraising activities.
  • Provides programming support (lectures, workshops, etc.), as required.
  • Supervises the implementation of The Trustees mission and strategic plan goals in the museum operations including exhibits, collection oversight and managed focus of the collection.
  • Assists with the development of productive partnerships and collaborations with other museum’s and organizations to maximize Fruitlands Museum’s and The Trustees’ relevancy and awareness. Helps to foster partnerships with artists and other non-profits.
  • Supervises volunteers, fellows, and project personnel as needed. With the guidance of the Senior Curator, helps oversee a thorough inventory of the collection.
  • Working with other Curators, helps to further the understanding of our fine arts collections across the state, through scholarship, exhibit loans, and promotion.
  • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in art history, material culture, or museum studies.
  • A minimum of 5 years in museum curatorial positions.
  • Expertise and/or experience with fine arts collections are required.
  • Proven exhibit experience required.
  • Requires a strong understanding of curatorial professional practices, including collection care, exhibit work, and scholarship.
  • Must foster and maintain professional, confident and friendly interactions with diverse public.
  • Demonstrated ability to create innovate programs and exhibitions.
  • Work with colleagues on-site and state-wide to promote and excite visitors about the collections.

Peabody Essex Museum is seeking a “can do” Accounts Payable Administrator. Reporting to the Controller, this position manages the day-to-day accounts payable transactions for the Museum, coordinates and performs confidential and diversified administrative and support services for the Finance Department, accounts for Function Rentals activities, prepares account analyses and journal entries and supporting schedules to financial statements as assigned. The position interacts with other PEM departments and senior leadership as part of the principal duties of Accounts Payable processing and reporting.

Qualifications:
An Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required along withstrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Basic knowledge of accounting principles, demonstrated knowledge of accounts payable, chart of accounts, general ledger systems and procedures. Ability to navigate through a complex organization with diplomacy and professionalism. Attention to detail and accurate data entry skills a must. Ability to perform mathematical computations and accounts reconciliations along with solid computer skills using google mail and Microsoft Excel is required. Experience with Black Baud Financial Edge a plus. A strong work ethic and the ability to work independently as well as with a team in a high volume environment with a high emphasis on accuracy and timeliness. Experience working in a non-profit organization a plus.
