Interpreting Hidden Black Lives: A Conversation with Actress Tammy Denease

On Thursday, October 1, the Royall House & Slave Quarters is having an event at Tufts featuring a living history interpreter. Actress Tammy Denease will be performing a narrative inspired by the life of Belinda Sutton, a woman enslaved by the Royall family who later successfully petitioned the state for a pension after being freed.

Stop by the Crane Room on Tufts’s Medford campus from 6:00-7:00 to listen this important part of history.

Professional Development Opportunity: Sustainability in Museums and the Role of the Museum Educator

Next Thursday, October 1, the Greater Boston Museum Educators Roundtable (GBMER) is hosting a “working lunch” at the Concord Museum to talk about green practices in museums and how educators can get involved in the topic. The discussion will be led by Sarah Sutton, author of The Green Museum and Environmental Sustainability at Historic Sites and Museums.

Free Admission to Museums THIS Saturday!

If you’re looking for something fun to do, or have been putting of a museum because it’s too expensive, here’s your chance! This Saturday, September 26, is Museums Day Live, when many museums offer free admission for you and a guest when you show your “ticket” (sign up for an account at Smithsonian magazine).

“In the spirit of the Smithsonian Museums, which offer free admission every day, Museum Day Live! is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country open their doors to anyone presenting a Museum Day Live! ticket… for free.”
