Marketing and Special Events Internship (Summer 2016)

This intern will assist in the development of marketing materials and support promotion for the Museum’s summer programming. The candidate will participate in the planning, execution, and follow up of the various events held throughout the summer including fundraising galas, capital campaign events, private parties, film screenings, lectures, author talks, etc. Organization and the ability to juggle multiple projects at once is a must. The candidate must possess excellent verbal communications skills and be comfortable in social situations. Good writing skills are also necessary and familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign a plus. Flexible hours with the ability to work evenings required. Sense of humor required. The marketing and events department will be hiring two interns for summer 2016. Both are full-time internships requiring at least 40 hours per week. ICA Winter/Spring Development Internship

Description:
Interested in learning about museum work? Discover the important fundraising efforts and community relationships that support museums and cultural institutions! Development interns participate in a wide variety of the development department’s day-to-day activities. Duties can include drafting proposals to corporations, foundations and government-funding sources, writing reports and conducting research on prospective funding sources, organizing direct mailings, and helping to maintain the membership database. Interns also offer support to staff working events and previews. The Winter/Spring Internship begins in late January. Schedule is flexible.
Interns may apply for school credit for their internship.
Qualifications:
We’re looking for someone who is interested in exploring museum work, gaining experience in an office setting and discovering the ways in which the ICA’s development department supports our mission. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and some exposure to  or willingness to learn Raiser’s Edge software are helpful.
