Berkshire Hills Internship Program (B-HIP) is an intensive twelve-week arts management internship course structured to integrate theoretical concepts and real-world experience. B-HIP runs in the Summer and it combines an internship component with a seminar in arts management, “talk-backs” with the area’s leading arts professionals, and full participation in cultural events throughout Berkshire County (Western Massachusetts). Interns work in a multitude of administrative capacities including development, marketing, public relations and programming – as they gain hands-on experience in the field of arts management. Each internship is hand-tailored to suite each interns’ needs, interests and talents. Former interns have worked at institutions such as The Clark Art Institute, MASS MoCA, the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, Shakespeare and Company, and more! Interns receive a $100 weekly stipend and are provided with housing accommodations in North Adams, MA. MCLA’s tuition rates are generally lower than comparable institutions; see website for current tuition rates. Scholarships and tuition reductions may be available. Early applications are strongly encouraged. Qualifications: B-HIP is a 3 graduate credit course that is open to college students (juniors and seniors), graduate students, recent graduates, and working professionals. If in College, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Nonprofit, business, and/or arts management coursework or experience in the field is helpful. Applicants should be passionate about the arts management field and be prepared for an intensive twelve weeks. Description:
MASS MoCA seeks full-time interns for various departments. Spend any season in the culturally rich, naturally beautiful Berkshires, while gaining invaluable professional experience in the arts. Paid interns are given $100/week stipend and free housing within a block of the complex (cable, internet, and utilities included). Internship dates: January 11th, 2016 – May 23rd, 2016.
Qualifications:
Graphic Design: Intern assists in day-to-day tasks of MASS MoCA’s in-house design studio, both digital and physical, working closely with the design, curatorial and marketing departments. Working directly with the Creative Director and Senior Designer, this position is 1/3 graphic designer, 1/3 production, and 1/3 jack- of-all-trades. Projects include (but not limited to) production and installation of vinyl exhibition and way finding signage, weekly advertisement design, digital archive management, vendor contact, daily museum photography, upkeep of website components, and general studio tasks. Intern should demonstrate enthusiasm, stamina, and willingness to work with a team. Excellent knowledge of Adobe CS4 or higher (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) required, with working to advanced knowledge of Flash. Excellent knowledge of digital photography hardware and intermediate photo editing skills.You are not required to have a driver’s license.
