If you’re looking for something fun to do, or have been putting of a museum because it’s too expensive, here’s your chance! This Saturday, September 26, is Museums Day Live, when many museums offer free admission for you and a guest when you show your “ticket” (sign up for an account at Smithsonian magazine).

“In the spirit of the Smithsonian Museums, which offer free admission every day, Museum Day Live! is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country open their doors to anyone presenting a Museum Day Live! ticket… for free.”

As a key member of the Visitor Service Team, Nathaniel Hawthorne House/Hooper Hathaway Docent and Exhibit monitors interact with guests while answering questions and monitoring guest behavior in the self-guided areas of the site. Volunteers in these areas ensure that guests are respecting the historic spaces by following established rules. Answer guest questions regarding the historic site, Salem and surrounding area, other attractions in town in a positive and non-opinionated manner.
