Visual Arts Technician Intern

Description:
 The intern will assist in the day-to-day operations of the busy visual arts department under the supervision of the Director of Exhibition Planning. This position includes assisting with the installation and maintenance of AV equipment and lighting for exhibitions, preparation and fabrication of artworks as necessary, maintenance of works on view, troubleshooting technologies throughout the museum, and performing weekly gallery lighting checks.  Additional responsibilities include general administrative and registrar tasks, condition reports, gallery documentation, AV research, maintaining and updating checklists and databases, creating technical user guides, art handling and transports, arranging shipping of artworks, giving public and private museum tours, and assisting other departments as necessary.
Qualifications:
A successful candidate should have a strong work ethic, an eye for detail, proficient writing and research skills, willing to dedicate additional hours during exhibition installations, and have a positive attitude about performing many kinds of tasks on a demanding schedule. Must have a driver’s license and be willing to do a fair amount of driving.

Description:
Intern works directly with the Managing Director of Performing Arts in the coordination of current and future season planning, general office work, and maintaining and updating all performing arts files. The intern will alternate between the Assistant to the Managing Director and Company Manager with drafting event programs, researching upcoming artists, assisting with artist services to arranging transportation and housing logistics of visiting artists, staff, and fellow interns.
Qualifications:
MASS MoCA seeks full-time interns for various departments. Spend any season in the culturally rich, naturally beautiful Berkshires, while gaining invaluable professional experience in the arts. Paid interns are given $100/week stipend and free housing within a block of the complex (cable, internet, and utilities included). Internship dates: September 7th, 2015 – December 19th, 2015.
