The Happy Museum Project, which is putting together a really interesting assortment of studies, thinking, and initiatives (if you’re not getting their newsletter, go sign up!), just published an interesting article from Steve Gardam, Head of Live Programmes at the London Transport Museum.
Gardam went to an event called “Action for Happiness” at the Cass Business School in London, all about increasing happiness among employees at work. Economists have presented some pretty compelling evidence that workplaces with higher employee satisfaction are more productive and more successful. Gardam wonders if these same principles can be applied to museums: can we really substantially improve the quality of our programming and services by making sure that employees are fulfilled?
