Manually pipetting samples with a micropipetter can be tedious and time-consuming, taking your time and focus from other experiments that may require your attention. This is a very common problem in many labs, including biology and chemistry labs.

Because of this, our group decided to focus on a way to improve on the pipetting experience.

We are looking to find a way to increase the amount of samples pipetted per minute without sacrificing the accuracy or simplicity of conventional pipetting methods.

Our problem statement

Primary user needs

Our device…

  • Must increase pipetting efficiency, measured in samples produced per minute
  • Must have a method of use similar to current pipetting methods
  • Must be compatible with current micropipette accessories and technology, like standard pipette tips
  • Must be easy to use
  • Must be easy to clean and maintain sterility
  • Must have the same accuracy levels as micropipetters currently on the market

Our device will aim to solve the problems above while still maintaining the simple and adjustable-yet-accurate ease of use that a conventional micropipetter provides.
