Who We Are

Tufts PRIDE is an affinity group of faculty and staff who identify as LGBTQIA+* and is open to all members of the Tufts faculty and staff community. We are listed as an affinity group at Tufts University.

The focus of the affinity group is to promote campus pluralism, hiring and retention of diverse faculty and staff, career development, community building and service, and workplace wellness. The affinity group is sponsored by the LGBT Center in the Division of Student Affairs, the Chief Diversity Officers in the Office of the Provost and Senior Vice President, and Human Resources.

What We Do

We have a core group of steering committee members who meet each month to discuss opportunities and strategies for supporting and advocating for LGBTQIA faculty and staff. We also work on event planning for larger group meetups where everyone is welcome.

What do we hope to accomplish in this group? Here are some examples of projects and initiatives we’re working on.

  • Organizing meetings and social events
  • Meeting with HR representatives to discuss issues such as how pronouns and common names might be programmed into employee systems in a respectful way.
  • Requesting that services relevant to the LGBTQIA+ faculty and staff community are highlighted and promoted to create a safe and supportive environment for everyone at Tufts University.
  • Please add your suggestions for activities and advocacy!
