Tufts to Divest All Its South Africa Holdings (February 26th, 1989)
On February 26th, 1989, Tufts University withdrew its investments from South African Apartheid, following a 12-year campaign of student activism. Today marks the 32nd anniversary of that historic decision. Tufts has historically recognized and demonstrated its institutional responsibility to take action for civil rights and social justice. It is time to expand upon that legacy by divesting from the Prison Industrial Complex.
