Tufts Policies & Forms

Policies

Tufts University has several university policies that relate to scholarly communication issues.

Policy on Fair Use of Copyrighted Materials
Governs the use of copyrighted materials for teaching and research.

Policy on Rights and Responsibilities with Respect to Intellectual Property
Describes who is covered, what is covered, IP management, income distribution, equity ownership, as well as copyright.

Information Stewardship Policy
Outlines the actions all members of the Tufts community are expected to follow when working with institutional data and systems.

Forms

This section contains Tufts forms that can be used for documenting permissions related to various scholarly sharing activities. If you don’t see a form that meets your needs, please get in touch.

Tufts Digital Library deposit

Use this form if you’re working with the library on mediated deposit of your work or your students’ work to the Tufts Digital Library (i.e. you’re not using our self-deposit form)

Speaker consent

Use these forms if you’d like to make an audio or video recording of a guest speaker, presenter or performer at Tufts. The forms give permission to record and share the recording in the Tufts Digital Library (TDL).

Use the “no 3rd party material” release form for performances where the performer/speaker has not incorporated any third party material owned by someone else. They could chose, if they’d like, to allow the recording of their performance in the TDL to be made openly available.

Use the “contains 3rd party material” release form for performances where the performer/speaker has incorporated third party material owned by someone else that they don’t have permission to license. These recordings can only go into the TDL behind a Tufts log-in.

Media release forms

Visit the Digital Design Studio’s Multimedia Production Guide to find model image and recording release forms for media or podcast projects.

Creative Commons licensing for Tufts staff

Tufts staff members can use the Creative Commons License Request Form to apply to the University’s Office for Technology Transfer and Industry Collaboration for permission to license work created at Tufts under a Creative Commons license.
