The Role of IT and Infastructure in Building Smart Cities

October 29, 2013 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

This decade, cities around the world will invest $108 billion in smart-city infrastructure, such as smart meters and grids, energy-efficient buildings and data analytics, according to Pike Research.
The conversations around smart cities have historically been dominated by large IT players focusing on giving devices intelligence and networking capabilities ‹ a top-down, software-centric approach. Today, companies like Schneider Electric, with an in-depth understanding of what is going on behind the plug or inside the water network, are employing a bottom-up, infrastructure-focused strategy.
This webcast will look at the development of smart cities around the world: the challenges and opportunities as well as the role of both IT and infrastructure in a smart-cities engagement.
