Overview/Goals for the week:
This week, practical laboratory learning commences with the very first step in the process of generating cultured meat – the initial isolation of stem cells from livestock. The class will take a field trip to the Tufts Veterinary School and collect small muscle/fat biopsies to transport back to the tissue culture laboratories. Back in the lab, we will process the tissue and select for muscle satellite cells and preadipocytes.
