Using Behavior Analysis to Benefit Shelter Dogs

The Center for Shelter Dogs will be at Tufts University’s Medford Campus on Wednesday April 22 from 6 to 8 pm to talk about how behavior analysis can help shelter dogs. You are invited to join us!
Animal shelters and rescue organizations are seeing increasing numbers of dogs with challenging behaviors. These dogs can be difficult to manage in the shelter and difficult to place in a home. Yet many of these dogs will make wonderful companions with the right training and placement.

Our featured speaker is Terri Bright, PhD, BCBA-D, CAAB, Director of Behavior, MSPCA/Angell, who will be sharing case stories and examples about how the principles of learning theory and behavior modification can be used to help manage and improve the behavior of dogs in shelters. We will also share some of the Center’s programs for behavior modification in the shelter and the results of a research study investigating the effectiveness of one such program.
