Resonance Lab: Nitin Malik & Mohit Saini Win Fletcher D-Prize

We are excited to announce the winners of the 2020 Fletcher D-Prize competion: Nitin Malik (F’20) and Mohit Saini (F’21)! Together Nitin and Mohit created Resonance Lab, a solar energy start-up that is focused on providing clean, reliable, and affordable energy to rural communities in India.

Resonance Lab delivers innovative solar panels bundled with an at-home installation kit to several homes in rural Indian communities. The panel is more portable and efficient than its traditional alternatives. The home kit includes a variety of products, including a television and a water purifier. The company plans to target an addressable market of around 20 million rural customers in four power-deprived Indian states over the next five years.

Nitin and Mohit receive $13,000 in seed capital from the Fletcher D-Prize to launch their pilot. They are also competing in the final rounds of the Tufts New Venture Competition, an initiative run by the Gordon Institute at Tufts’ School of Engineering.

(L to R) Bhaskar Chakravorti, Mohit Saini, and Nitin Malik are presented with $13,000 in March, 2020.

Watching our students harness their entrepreneurial energies to make a difference to some of the most pressing poverty challenges is part of what makes Fletcher so special. Learn more about the Fletcher DPrize Competition and check out previous winners!
