Erica Reeves Williams
Assistant Director, Central Bank of Liberia
Erica Reeves Williams, started her primary and secondary education at the St. Peter Claver’s High School, Grand Bassa County, Liberia and graduated in 1988. She enrolled at the University of Liberia and obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) Degree in Economics in 1998. In 2000, she was employed at Central Bank of Liberia as a teller. In 2005, she enrolled at the University of Legon, Ghana, through a Joint Japanese/World Bank Scholarship and obtained Masters of Arts (MA) in Economic Policy Management in November 2007. In 2007, she was transferred from Banking Department to the Regulation and Supervision Department where she served in several capacities and rose from various levels within the department including Examiner, Policy Analyst and Principal Policy Analyst. She currently serves as Assistant Director of Digital Financial Services and Consumer Protection. She has represented the Central Bank of Liberia in various international institutions including the Alliance of Financial Inclusion (AFI) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Currently, she serves as the principal representative and a member of the Digital Financial Services Working Group of AFI. Ms. Williams has been instrumental in the formation of the Liberian Digital Financial Services Working Group launched by the Executive Governor, Milton A. Weeks, which plays a part in aligning stakeholders’ activities for the enhancement of digital financial services in Liberia. Ms. Williams has been instrumental in the drafting of several legislation and policy documents including the AML/CFT Law of Liberia, the Mobile Money Regulations and the Agent Banking Regulations.
