Farzand Ali
Joint Director, State Bank of Pakistan
Mr. Farzand Ali holds the position of Joint Director of the Financial Stability Department at State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). He started his career in 2006 at SBP and has diverse experience in financial inclusion, regulations & supervision, and portfolio management areas. He has been instrumental in introducing small-and-medium enterprise (SME) credit guarantee schemes, secured transactions regime structures and revised prudential regulations for SMEs in Pakistan. He has also managed national level capacity development programs on financial inclusion for the banking industry. Mr. Ali also works on assignments related to portfolio investment of foreign exchange reserves. In addition, he worked at the United Nations Development Program in New York, developing financial inclusion frameworks and scaling up rural development programs for Cambodia, Mongolia, Colombia, Mexico and Laos. He cherishes his contributions to the public-private partnership-based programs for clean energy financing that were developed during his stint at the Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism in Hawaii, USA. Mr. Ali holds master’s degrees in public administration from the University of Hawaii, and economics from the University of Peshawar, Pakistan. He also holds graduate level certificates in public policy from Public Policy Center, UH, USA and Contemporary Leadership from East-West Center, USA. He was a fellow of Asian Development Bank and Japan Scholarship Program in 2012.
