Mr. Keneth Bichang’a is a Research and Policy Analyst at the Sacco Societies and Regulatory Authority (SASRA), Kenya. His key role is to conduct policy research leading to policy advice by positively influencing the decision-making process and producing consistently high-quality analyses of key issues in the SACCO sub sector. He was part of the Project Management Office (PMO) team based at the Capital Market Authority (CMA) that developed a policy framework for the development of Islamic finance in Kenya which culminated in recognition of Islamic finance through amendments to the Public Finance Management (PFM) Act, Income Tax Act, Stamp Duty Act, Value Added Tax Act, Co-operative Societies Act and Sacco Societies Act in the Finance Act 2017-18. Keneth has over 23 years of experience in the Sacco Sub sector and is a holder of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI) Level 3 Islamic Finance Qualification (IFQ), United Kingdom, Master of Business Administration from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI) Arusha, Tanzania, Advanced Certificate in Policy Analysis from Strathmore University, Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management from the Kenya School of Monetary Studies, Nairobi and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Option).
