Mr. Hassan is currently a Deputy Director and the Head of Market Conduct and Development in the Consumer Protection Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria with the primary responsibility of leading the development and implementation of the Financial Consumer Protection Framework Guidelines to guide the market conduct of Financial Institutions under the regulatory purview of the Central Bank of Nigeria. With over two decades of Central Banking experience, Mr. Hassan has been involved in extensive interdisciplinary policy and regulatory development and implementation processes in the areas of development finance, financial inclusion and consumer protection, including the development of the National Financial Literacy Strategy, the Consumer Protection and Market Conduct Supervisory Frameworks of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the automation of the Consumer Complaints Management and Redress Processes in the Nigerian banking industry. Mr. Hassan holds a first degree from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria-Nigeria, an Advanced Certificate in Knowledge Management from the Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria-South Africa and an MBA (Distinction) from the University of Liverpool, UK. He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), a Certified Financial Education Instructor (CFEI), a Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM) and a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. Mr. Hassan also serves as the Primary Member representing the Central Bank of Nigeria in the Consumer Empowerment and Market Conduct (CEMC) Working Group of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI).
