Mr. Bonger’s career path in the financial sector started in 2002 at the first private commercial bank of Ethiopia (Awash Bank). He served as an Internal Auditor/Inspector under the Control Department of the bank. After two and half years with this bank, he joined the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE), Banking Supervision Directorate, as a bank examiner in 2005. For the following seven years he served as a bank supervisor at different capacities from Junior Bank Examiner to Senior Examiner. Then, in July 2011, he was assigned as the first Manager of a newly established Credit Reference Bureau with the then up-to-date credit reporting system (Technology Infrastructure and Legal Framework). Since then, he has been working in this bureau. Currently, he is engaged full-time in NBE’s Credit Reporting Project, charged with the expansion of the coverage of the bureau’s reported credit information and the upgrade of its infrastructures and the products and services it provides.
