Financial Analyst, Research and Policy Analysis Department, Central Bank of Kenya

Irene W. Rugiri has over 13 years as a Financial Analyst at the Central Bank of Kenya. Currently she is in Research and Policy Analysis Department, previously she worked in the Bank Supervision Department. Her current roles include financial analysis, policy and regulation, research and financial assessments at micro and macro levels. In addition, she undertakes financial inclusion initiatives at Bank; she is the technical person in the FinAccess Household Survey (A survey for the financial inclusion in Kenya) undertaken after every two years.  She has published some industry research and thought leadership papers on financial stability and financial inclusions some that have influenced the digital credit providers regulation in Kenya.

Irene also supports and participates in national, regional, and international collaborative initiatives; in particular, she is a member and a discussant in critical technical working groups; East Africa Community Macro-prudential, Stress Testing and Statistics Technical Working Group (MASS-WG), the Kenya Financial Sector Regulators Forum (FSRF).

 Irene holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (First Class Honors) from Africa Nazarene University-Nairobi; an MBA in Finance from Catholic University of Eastern Africa and a fellow of Chartered Certified Accountants-UK and an affiliate of Global Association of Risk Professionals-UK.
