Assistant Manager, National Payment Systems Directorate, Bank of Tanzania

Mr. Mutashobya Mushumbusi is an Assistant Manager in the National Payment Systems (NPS) directorate of the Bank of Tanzania. He has over a decade worth experience as a central banker in the areas of Digital Payments, Operations, Payment Systems policy and strategy, and Project Management. He heads the development and operations of retail payment systems which incorporates the cheques, credit transfers and instant payments clearing platforms.

Prior to joining the BoT, Mr. Mushumbusi served as an IT Engineer at Vodacom (T) Ltd until 2011. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in managing diverse platforms offering a range of Value-Added Services (VAS). These included but were not limited to messaging services such as Short Message Service (SMS) and Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), mobile financial services (M-Pesa), and internet services such as mobile data and email services.

Mr. Mushumbusi holds a Bachelor of Computer Science from Pune University India and a Master of Engineering Management from the University of Dar es Salaam.
