Teresa has over twenty-two years professional experience gained from the private and public sectors that has enabled her to develop diverse skills with expertise in research, policy analysis, and strategic planning. She is an enthusiastic professional with a strong passion for financial inclusion, committed to contributing to financial inclusion policies to foster inclusive growth.
Currently, she is an Assistant Manager, Policy and Strategy at the Insurance Regulatory Authority (Kenya). Her primary responsibilities are undertaking research to support policy and decision making and supporting the design and implementation of various policy and strategic initiatives at the Authority. She has contributed to the reviewing of various insurance industry guidelines and undertaking of various impact assessments for the Authority’s initiatives.
She significantly contributed to the development of the Authority’s 2023-2027 strategic plan. Before joining the Authority, Teresa worked as a researcher in the private sector. During this time, she undertook research projects in Eastern and Central Africa for various firms and contributed to the formulation of their business strategies. She was instrumental in fostering business growth, nurturing cohesive teams, and mentoring individuals who have subsequently risen to senior positions within diverse institutions. She holds an MSc. in Social Statistics and a BA degree (Economics major), both from the University of Nairobi, and has various certificates in policy analysis from reputable institutions.
