April 2019 FWN Newsletter

Dear Fletcher Women,

Warm greetings from the Fletcher Women’s Network! We plan to reach out to our broad membership four times a year to keep you abreast of FWN news and encourage your participation in our events, activities, and major initiatives.

NEW! Boston and Geneva Fletcher Women’s Network Local Groups
New local groups have recently been established in Boston and Geneva! Look out for communications from them if you’re local to either, and feel free to reach out to Allyson Hawkins for Boston (allyson.e.hawkins@gmail.com) or Viola Csordas for Geneva (vijuer@gmail.com) with any questions or ideas.

FWN/Boston Local Group Celebrates International Women’s Day
On March 9, 35 Fletcher women graduates and current students gathered for a potluck hosted by Mariana Stoyancheva, F’05 and current co-chair of the Fletcher Women’s Network, to celebrate International Women’s Day and the re-launch of the FWN Boston Local Group. Women from various stages of life, Fletcher classes and programs were represented at the event enjoying informative conversations and delicious food from around the world. This was the first of series of events that the FWN/Boston Local Group is hosting this spring.

Fletcher Women’s Network Blog
Our new blog is up and running! Check out the latest post, “Examine Your Past, Step Into the Future” at: http://sites.tufts.edu/fwn/fwn-blog/. We welcome contributions from any interested member of the Network. If you’re interested in writing a post, please contact Jamila Xible (jaxible@gmail.com).

Upcoming Events

Boston Local Group: “Researching What’s Next,” April 25th
On April 25, the FWN/Boston Local Group is hosting a session on “Researching What’s Next? Research Resources & Tips on How to Use Them to Support Your Career Explorations and Investigations,” featuring a presentation by Ann Cullen, International Business Librarian, and Melissa Palmer, Associate Director, Office of Career Services. The event will take place from 6:00-8:00pm in Mugar 200 at The Fletcher School.

Annual Graduation Tea, May 18th
On May 18, 2019, the Boston Local Group will host the FWN Annual Graduation Tea at the Fletcher School. Come meet fellow Fletcher alumnae and graduating students and learn more about our current and future initiatives. Light refreshments will be served. Please contact Ally Hawkins (allyson.e.hawkins@gmail.com) if you can help organize the event.

Convene and Represent FWN at Events
If you’re traveling and getting together with Fletcherites or attending Fletcher-type events, reach out to FWN and let us know so that we can support local groups to have a presence or just connect with other Fletcher women. Post on our Facebook page and find some old and new Fletcher friends who will be also there and get together.

Calls to Action!

1.  Seeking Social Media Curators

FWN is excited to announce that have launched a new guest editor program for our Facebook and LinkedIn pages. We are recruiting two editors a quarter for each page to post content around the theme of Women in Leadership. Lauren Jencik F’17 is our very first guest editor. Look out for her posts in the coming weeks.

As a guest editor, you will find interesting and engagement-driven articles, videos, and other newsworthy items related to Fletcher, women in international affairs (security, economics, technology, gender related topics, development, etc.), and other relevant topics to post on our social media pages. Examples of engagement-worthy postings can be (but are not exclusive to) job postings, news articles relating to international affairs and women in international affairs, polls and surveys, upcoming Fletcher, Tufts and community events you may be aware of, promoting the work of Fletcher women alumni.

If you are interested in serving as a guest editor, please contact Judy Dunbar (dunbarjs@gmail.com) and Jennifer Haworth-McCandless (j.haworth.mccandless@sidley.com).

2. Start Your Own Local Group!
As we welcome Boston and Geneva to our list of local groups, we encourage anyone interested in starting your own local group to emailfletcheralumnae@gmail.com to reach Allyson Hawkins or Ashley Doliber for US-based groups, or Annin Peck for groups outside the US. Check out our “How to Get Started” Guide and “Communications and Branding Guidelines”, found on the FWN Local Groups page.

3. Keep your Contact Information Current

We use the emails from the Fletcher/Tufts Online Community to reach our members (all Fletcher alumnae). It is helpful if you will include whereyou are, so we can reach out to you when there are events in your area. Go to the Online Community to check and update your information.

Best to all!
Mollie Pepper, Editor and Co-Chair, FWN Communications Committee

Do you have a spam issue on this website; I also am a blogger, and I wanted to know your situation; many of us have developed some nice methods, and we are looking to trade methods with others, why not shoot me an e-mail if interested.
