Laura Corlin
Laura Corlin, PhD (she/her/hers) is an Assistant Professor at Tufts University with a primary appointment in Public Health and Community Medicine. She earned her MS and PhD in Environmental Health through the Tufts School of Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Cardiovascular Epidemiology at the Boston University School of Medicine. Her research focuses on developing and applying new methods to assess the health effects of environmental mixtures in observational studies. Through her exposure assessment and environmental epidemiology research, Dr. Corlin seeks to mitigate environmental health disparities. Dr. Corlin also enjoys working with students in and out of the classroom.
Kipruto Kirwa
Dr. Kirwa applies techniques from environmental health, epidemiology, infections disease control, and statistical modeling to better understand how environmental factors affect human health, and how those effects can be mitigated. His research seeks to improve the quantification of air pollutant exposures, identify population groups most at-risk for pollutant-induced harms, and examine the interplay between pollutants and emerging health threats, with a focus on the impact of air pollutants on infectious and non-infectious cardiorespiratory and birth outcomes in children and adults in the US and in international contexts.

Elyssa Anneser
Elyssa Anneser (she/her/hers) graduated in 2021 with her MPH concentrating in epidemiology and biostatistics. She graduated in 2020 from Tufts with her Bachelor of Science in political science and environmental studies. She is currently researching the effects of environmental context and the COVID-19 experience as well as the intersection of environmental context, climate stress, and civic engagement. Elyssa hopes to use her MPH to advocate for environmental health justice in her future career.

Chloe Cheung
Chloe Cheung (she/her/hers) is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) at Tufts University School of Medicine with a concentration in epidemiology and biostatistics. Prior to enrolling at Tufts, she was a research associate at Health Resources in Action (HRiA) and led quantitative data analyses and visualizations for several community health needs assessments and multi-year program evaluations. She holds a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Northeastern University.

Abigail Curtis
Abigail Curtis (she/her/hers) is a senior at Waltham High School interested in epidemiology and public health. She joined the team in January 2021 to learn more about epidemiological work and real-life applications to the scientific process.

Julia Debertin
Julia Debertin (she/her/hers) is currently pursuing her MPH concentrating in epidemiology and biostatistics. She also attended Tufts University for her undergraduate education, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in international relations and completing the pre-medical track. Her interests are in water access and quality issues, infectious diseases, and molecular epidemiology. In her future career, Julia hopes to find an intersection of clinical practice and epidemiological research rooted in health equity.

Mateo Gómez
Mateo Gómez (he/him/his) graduated from Tufts University in 2021, with a B.S. in environmental engineering and a minor in engineering management. He currently leads a team of students working to create a dashboard of COVID policy, case information, and environmental data. This fall, he will join Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. (VHB) as a Water Resources Specialist. In his free time, Mateo enjoys playing the piano and trail running.

Zarena Jafry
Zarena Jafry (she/her/hers) is an MPH candidate from Massachusetts concentrating in epidemiology & biostatistics. She did her undergrad at Tufts University where she majored in Community Health and Economics. Her interests are in environmental and psychiatric epidemiology, as well as maternal and child health.

Nathan Kim
Nathan Kim (he/him/his) is a senior currently studying Economics and Community Health. One of his primary academic interests is in applying statistics to inform policy decisions, especially with the objective of assisting underserved populations. Since joining the team, Nathan has helped with the COVID-19 dashboard and is currently researching the associations between differential housing exposures and COVID-related outcomes. Outside of the LEEFE Lab, Nathan enjoys playing tennis and going to the beach.

Yan Lin
Yan Lin (She/her/hers) is a Master of Public Health candidate concentrating in epidemiology and biostatistics at Tufts University. She graduated from South China University of Technology with an MA in Guangzhou, China. She’s interested in data analysis regarding infectious diseases and chronic diseases. She hopes she can contribute to figuring out public health problems by the data-driven methods in the future career. In her free time, Yan loves traveling and exploring local traditional foods.

Nikhil Nath
Nikhil Nath (he/him/his) is a current Master of Public Health (MPH) student in the Epidemiology and Biostatistics concentration from Toronto, Canada . Prior to his enrollment at Tufts, he was a research associate at several hospitals throughout Ontario, where he researched cardiovascular outcomes and evaluated various cardiac ablation procedures. Nikhil is currently working on a manuscript that will model sex-specific cardiometabolic health trajectories using Framingham Heart Study (FHS) data. He will be graduating from the MPH program in August 2021.

Emily Riseberg
Emily Riseberg (she/her/hers) Tufts BS/MPH alumni and current doctoral student at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She has worked with Dr. Corlin for two years on a variety of projects assessing the association between urinary metal concentrations and incident cardiometabolic outcomes. Emily is currently working on four first-author manuscripts with Dr. Corlin and has presented at the ISEE and SER conferences this past year. Her main areas of interest are environmental and nutritional epidemiology.

Amanda Schreiner
Amanda Schreiner (she/her/hers) is a junior pursuing a BA in Community Health. She is currently researching the possible association between UVB and COVID-19 cases as a Laidlaw Research Scholar. She is also a part of the COVID-19 Dashboard Project and the Tufts Equity Project. She has interests in how meteorological factors can affect the transmission of infectious diseases. In her free time, Amanda enjoys playing rugby on the women’s team and crocheting.

Eden Shaveet
Eden Shaveet (she/her/hers) is a second-year health informatics & analytics MS candidate at Tufts University School of Medicine studying at the interface of the expanded health data ecosystem and regulatory frameworks. She graduated from Elms College in 2019 with a BA in Psychology and completed her undergraduate internship at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS). Eden supports multimethod research and evaluation at UMMS where she leverages data generated by Massachusetts Young Adult Access Centers to support their sustainability.

Kali Sullivan (she/her/hers) is a medical student at Tufts University School of Medicine, class of 2024, in their dual-degree MD/MBA program. She graduated from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business in 2019 with a B.S. in Finance. Kali is passionate about advocating for increased physician and medical student awareness of healthcare’s impact on the environment and reducing these contributions. She is also interested in the intersection between environmental health and healthcare’s role in mitigating health risks relating to climate change.

Her academic interests include food security, One Health, and WASH. Since joining the team, Catie has participated on the Omics Project, Perceived Safety in Public Transit, and the COVID-19 Dashboard. Outside of the LEEFE Lab, Catie volunteers with Tufts Food Rescue Collaborative and Igniting Change Through Compassion.

McKailey Walters (she/her/hers) is a current Master of Public Health (MPH) student concentrating in epidemiology and biostatistics. She is currently working on a manuscript that examines the associations between social vulnerability and chronic disease prevalence in the San Luis Valley, a rural region in southern Colorado. Her main interests include infectious disease and environmental epidemiology.
