Srivalleesha (Valli) Mallidi obtained her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from University of Texas at Austin. She worked in the Ultrasound imaging group of Prof. Stanislav Emelianov. Dr. Mallidi master’s thesis involved custom designing ultrasound based multi-modality imaging systems while her doctoral work explored the utility of surface plasmon resonance properties of spherical gold nanoparticles for early detection of cancer and probing nano-molecular interactions. Her graduate work is published in journals such as Nanoletters and Optics Express. Her work on Molecular specific photoacoustic imaging is highly cited.
After graduation, she joined Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital with a goal to translate the imaging techniques to clinic, and was a NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein postdoctoral fellow under the mentorship of Dr. Tayyaba Hasan. She was also awarded the American Society of Lasers in Medicine and Surgery Research Award for junior faculty. Prior to Tufts, Dr. Mallidi was Assistant Professor at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Harvard Medical School and maintains an affiliate position with MGH and Wellman to continue her research collaborations within the center.
Her research interests are in the fields of ultrasound imaging, photoacoustic imaging, image-guided therapeutics, photodynamic therapy and clinically translatable combination treatments.
