Collections Management Internship

The Arlington Historical Society is devoted to the discovery, interpretation, sharing, and celebration of Arlington’s rich and diverse heritage. The society operates the Smith Museum and the Colonial era Jason Russell House, site of the bloodiest battle of April 19, 1775.  For more information, visit http://www.arlingtonhistorical.org  This spring/summer internship is to assist with collections management at the Society.  Hands on experience will come in the form of a remarkable collection of objects from a single family spanning 200 years.  Objects vary from photographs and paper to clothing. Through this the intern will learn about various issues related to collections care and management with specific emphasis on improving practices and fundraising for collections care and issues related to historic house collections management.  All training will be provided, including instruction on Past Perfect Museum Management software.Intern hours and schedules are flexible to meet the needs of students and academic credit requirements, although interns are expected to work at least 5 hours per week for a minimum of ten weeks. Qualifications:
Applicants should be enrolled in or recent graduates of a Museum Studies program or related course of study.
