Museum Education Intern

The Museum Education Intern gains a better understanding of the way museum education enhances the experience of students and visitors in an historic house museum environment. They also experience the satisfaction of making an important contribution to the Shirley-Eustis House educational mission. Education interns will be involved in a variety of programs and areas to get a wide experience of the types of activities involved in running successful museum education programs according to the standards set forth by our Museum. The Museum Education Intern will work with the Executive Director/Curator to learn and teach our pre-scheduled programming to groups, school classrooms, and various summer demonstrations to be held once a week. Most of this work will be done in period clothing and our demonstrations will strive to show the daily life of those in the 18th- and 19th-centuries. You will: 1. Assist with facilitating the Young Docent Program 2. Assist with facilitating summer programs & demonstrations 3. Independently plan & facilitate at least one Education Lesson Plan for public program/summer camp activity 4. Participate in the planning & implementation of summer museum And, 5.Perform administrative duties as needed relating to education events & programs.
