Visual Arts Technician Intern
Description:
The intern will assist in the day-to-day operations of the busy visual arts department under the supervision of the Director of Exhibition Planning. This position includes assisting with the installation and maintenance of AV equipment and lighting for exhibitions, preparation and fabrication of artworks as necessary, maintenance of works on view, troubleshooting technologies throughout the museum, and performing weekly gallery lighting checks. Additional responsibilities include general administrative and registrar tasks, condition reports, gallery documentation, AV research, maintaining and updating checklists and databases, creating technical user guides, art handling and transports, arranging shipping of artworks, giving public and private museum tours, and assisting other departments as necessary.

Qualifications:
A successful candidate should have a strong work ethic, an eye for detail, proficient writing and research skills, willing to dedicate additional hours during exhibition installations, and have a positive attitude about performing many kinds of tasks on a demanding schedule. Must have a driver’s license and be willing to do a fair amount of driving.
