On June 2, at the #NutritionLiveOnline2020 event hosted by the American Society for Nutrition, the ideas in an upcoming white paper (supported through a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation) on strengthening federal nutrition research were discussed by two esteemed panels. Building on this comprehensive white paper, the panels with a diversity of experts outlined the current state, challenges, and opportunities for strengthening federal nutrition research. This includes approaches for new cross-governmental coordination of nutrition research across the more than 10 federal departments and agencies that currently conduct or rely on federally supported human nutrition research and for increasing nutrition research investment and structure at the National Institutes of Health.

The list of organizations that have signed on in support of the white paper’s call for strengthening federal nutrition research can be viewed here.
