January 2020 – CI Project update

International research is never without its challenges! After some travel-related setbacks in July, the CI Study of PYD is pleased to share that a second wave of data has now been collected in Rwanda. The CI Study now has two complete waves of data from El Salvador and Rwanda, involving about 1200 youth in each country, half of whom are enrolled in Compassion International (CI)-supported programs. We will be presenting initial findings from the two waves of data at the 2020 Society for Research in Adolescence (SRA) conference in San Diego this March. With the third wave of data collection now being scheduled, the CI Study team will soon be able to test fully longitudinal models comparing CI-supported youth with a matched counterfactual sample in hopes of illuminating the impact of CI programs aimed at promoting thriving among youth living in poverty.
